AT&T chooses Amdocs over Motricity

  • AT&T to replace Motricity with Amdocs as operator prepares to launch AppCenter. ME has seen documents advising content providers they will be transitioned to the Amdocs/QPass system in August. The move will be a huge blow to Motricity, as AT&T is its flagship account. Motricity also lost its Bell Canada contract to Live Wire Mobile in May.
  • Amdocs has declared third quarter of fiscal 2009 financial results, well above estimates. The company continues to benefit from the telecom carrier industry’s long-term trend towards network consolidation & convergence. Third quarter revenue of $690.3 million was down 15.9% from the year-ago quarter and down 2.9% sequentially. But this was above our expectation of $680 million and at the high-end of the company’s guidance.
  • ECtel Ltd, a leading provider of Integrated Revenue Management(TM) (IRM(R)) solutions for communications service providers, announced that Vivo, a top mobile telecom provider in Brazil, has upgraded to FraudView 8.2, ECtel’s latest most innovative fraud-management system.

A study from israel shows a sharp rise in salivary gland cancer that may be linked to mobile phones

  • A recent study documents a sharp rise in the incidence of salivary gland cancer in Israel that researchers believe may be linked to the use of mobile phones. The study was commissioned by the Israel Dental Association and directed by Avi Zini of the community dentistry department at the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine. The study included examination of the incidence of oral cavity cancers in Israel from 1970 to 2006.
  • Amdocs , the leading provider of customer experience systems,  announced that Telenor Sweden, one of the largest mobile operators in Sweden and a subsidiary of the Telenor Group, has selected Amdocs’ Operational Support System (OSS) suite of products to manage and automate its network inventory across its wireline operations.
  • Ceragon Networks Ltd, a leading provider of high-capacity wireless backhaul solutions,  announced that it has signed a multi-year global supply agreement with the Hutchison 3 Group, a leading global player in the 3G telecommunications.
