fring launched its android app

- Fring, a tool for social communication through mobile phones, has (finally) landed on the Android platform, enabling users who own one of the many phones that run Google’s free open source system to download and install the application onto their devices for free.
- Alvarion says that it has won a supply contract from Australian ISP, Adam Internet to deploy a WiMAX network across metropolitan Adelaide, Australia. Adam Internet is building a wireless broadband network as part of the Australian government’s Broadband Guarantee Program aimed at providing services to all Australian residents.
- Ringback tone service developer Muzicall has raised €9 million in a funding round, led by existing investors Blue Run Ventures and Thule.
- Mobile content technology vendor m-Wise (OTCBB: MWIS) today announced its consolidated financial results for the nine months ended September 30, 2009. Financial Results. Net Profit for the nine months ended September 30, 2009 was $136,426 compared with a net loss of $550,480 in 2008.
- Partner Communications (PTNR.O) (PTNR.TA), Israel’s second-biggest mobile phone operator, said on Thursday it would seek to raise 360 million shekels ($95 million) in a private note placement.
- Mauj Mobile announced its partnership with Mobixell, a provider of innovative mobile advertising and multimedia solutions, on November 18, 2009, to deliver a full cycle service in mobile advertising. The partnership between the two companies is aimed at providing a complete commercial and technological package for managing operators’ advertising inventories for global and local brands in the region. jajah to be sold for $200-300 million?
Written by admin on November 14, 2009 – 4:55 am- Israeli start-up Jajah, which allows users to make phone-to-phone calls via the Internet, has received a buyout offer of $200-300 million, TheMarker financial news website said on Wednesday.
- Belgium-based MVNO, Cherry owned by Mondial Telecom is using Comverse’s solution to offer voice services to its subscribers over GSM as well as Wi-Fi.
- Waze, Inc., the first free provider of driver-generated maps and real-time road information, today announced the availability of its platform for community crowdsourcing of maps, worldwide
- RADCOM Ltd. (NASDAQ: RDCM) today announced that a major cellular operator in Central Asia has selected RADCOM’s Omni-Q system to monitor its GSM, GPRS and UMTS networks. The total expected deal value is over $1,000,000.
- Following the success of its first contest earlier this year, Mo’Minis today announced that the second mobile game creation contest in its GameCast series which is now open for registration.

- Two days after Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) published its financial reports for fourth fiscal quarter and full-year of 2009, CEO Dov Barahav hosted a small gathering for two AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) executives. AT&T is Amdocs’ biggest customers. The cocktail party was held. The fiscal year was a tough one for Amdocs, but it ended with signs of recovery.

Modu is in trouble

- Though it seems that the economic crisis is nearly behind us, not everyone is enjoying a recovery. Dov Moran’s start-up Modu is planning another round of cuts in its operations.
- US converged solutions supplier Comverse expects its BSS platform to serve as the cornerstone for its sales to operators in Latin America, Vicente Ramírez, VP of sales for Comverse Latin America, told BNamericas.
- Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE: CEL) (TASE: CEL) , announced the dismissal of a purported class action filed against the Company in May 2009, in the District Court of Tel-Aviv-Jaffa,
- WiMAX equipement manufacturer, Alvarion has reported a 21% drop in its revenues for the 3rd-quarter to $58.4 million, compared to $74.3 million in 2008. This was also a 0.6% drop on the revenues recorded in the second quarter of 2009.
- Shares of Amdocs Ltd. rose Thursday after the telecommunications equipment maker posted higher fourth-quarter earnings and gave a solid forecast for its fiscal first quarter, a sign that demand for its products may be stabilizing.
- Israel’s Partner Communications - which trades as Orange - has reported a 20% drop in its 3rd-quarter profits to NIS 263 million (US$70 million). Revenues were down by 3.3% to NIS 1,575 million (US$419 million), while EBITDA was down 10.9% to NIS 570 million (US$152 million).
- Internet service provider (ISP) and international calls carrier NetVision Ltd. (TASE: NTSN) opposes the Ministry of Communications’ policy of opening the cellular market to competition through the introduction of mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs).
