Radware Enables Pelephone, One of Israel’s Leading Mobile Operators, to Streamline its Mobile Service

Written by admin on February 16, 2010 – 11:56 am

Radware (Nasdaq: RDWR), the leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, today announced that Pelephone, one of Israel’s leading mobile operator and telecommunications providers, will deploy its Mobile Internet Gateway (MIG) solution for dynamic traffic steering and flexible policy enforcement; supporting Pelephone’s Mobile Service Platform, which serves 2.7 million mobile subscribers.

The growing popularity of mobile devices has increased demand for traffic-consuming mobile applications. This mobile broadband explosion, where customers want unlimited browsing access to Internet portals, content and application sites, led Pelephone to invest and expand its 3G and core infrastructure, introduce 3.75G radio access technologies, and restructure and secure its Multi Service Platform (MSP) architecture - to better support the new mobile service demands. As a result, the Company enlisted the help of Radware to implement its vigorous, reliable MIG solution, to improve value-added service (VAS) utilization.

“The acceleration of new mobile applications coming to market, combined with a steady adoption of sophisticated communications devices has created a glaring need for mobile operators to commission the types of integrated solutions that promote reliable network services at rapid speeds,” said Doron Kurtz, VP engineering , Pelephone. “By leveraging Radware’s technology, we have the flexibility to steer traffic according to dynamic policy decisions, maintain efficient bandwidth management, achieve better network cost per bit, and reduce network vulnerabilities.”

As part of the MIG solution, Pelephone has deployed Radware’s Content Inspection Director (CID) ®, a transparent smart redirection and dynamic policy enforcement device. This helps Pelephone increase user-content-handset visibility, quickly introduce new value-added services, and enrich content to support the movement towards an “open garden” concept, which can support the introduction of application and content from Internet application service providers.

Using CID’s smart traffic steering engine on Radware’s OnDemand Switch™ platform, Pelephone can dynamically enforce policies according to real-time network and service preferences, and also align services according to user profiles based on real-time queries from external user repositories. Additionally, the OnDemand approach allows Pelephone to scale service throughput up to 16Gbps on a “pay-as-you-grow” model. With Radware’s integrated solution, Pelephone can enhance customer QoE and rapidly introduce new monetization engines/applications to address competition outside the “walled garden,” which could potentially lower Pelephone’s ARPU (average rate per user).

“The introduction of mobile broadband radio technologies such as HSxPA, along with a width range of ‘traffic guzzler’ smart-phones and applications, required Pelephone to invest in new technologies that would best control the growing traffic within its network, keeping subscribers satisfied with new value-added services and finding ways to generate revenue to stay market-competitive,” said David Aviv, Vice President, Advanced Services, Radware. “Radware’s Mobile Internet Gateway solution is specifically designed to provide mobile operators the tools they need to transparently manage their traffic, increase visibility, reduce operational expenses, and ensure ongoing return on investment - in both current architecture and support future migration towards 3GPP Rel 8 and Rel 9 (LTE) based network architectures.”

Radware’s AppDirector® and CID solutions is part of the Company’s Business-Smart Data Center strategy, which is based on an approach to offer a range of innovative capabilities inclusive of pay-as-you-grow procurement models and a series of compelling ‘on demand’ platforms. CSL Chooses Amdocs ChangingWorlds Solution to Launch MyNet

Written by admin on February 16, 2010 – 12:41 am

At GSMA’s Mobile World Congress,Amdocs DOX, the leading provider of customer experience systems, today announced that CSL Limited (CSL), Hong Kong’s leading mobile operator, has chosen an Amdocs ChangingWorlds solution to support its new, innovative mobile Internet service, MyNet.

CSL last year launched its award-winning All-IP Next G™ network in Hong Kong.  With its high speed and enhanced capacity, this network offers sophisticated mobile content offerings such as Studio On Demand™, Musicholic™ and EXpresso™ that enrich the mobile broadband user experience. CSL is now offering its customers another first: MyNet, a new multi-language personalized mobile internet experience. The Amdocs ChangingWorlds solution supports MyNet by learning from the user’s behavior and usage patterns to build a customer profile. This information is applied to suggest links to both on- and off-portal content via a browser bar. The service is browser and handset independent, ensuring a superior customer experience that encourages frequent use.

This level of personalization enables MyNet users to receive a different mobile Internet experience. For example, a user with multiple interests such as sports, financial markets and restaurants, can choose to be presented with content that reflects these interests, prioritized on their mobile internet service.

“The Hong Kong market has enthusiastically adopted both smartphone devices and the mobile Internet, but the interfaces are not conducive for mobile Internet browsing. This has made it difficult for users to find the specific content they’re looking for,” said Tarek Robbiati, group managing director, Telstra International and chief executive officer, CSL Limited. “The launch of Next G™ allows us to offer our customers a personalized mobile Internet user experience across any device. The Amdocs ChangingWorlds solution makes it easy for users to experience what they want, when they want it.”

The introduction of MyNet expands the existing relationship with CSL, which uses Amdocs ChangingWorlds’ solutions to evolve and continually enhance its mobile data strategy across its Next G™ network.”

Siklu’s EtherHaul Microwave Backhaul Solution Boosts Network Performance While Reducing Costs by 80%

Written by admin on February 15, 2010 – 1:30 am

Siklu, a pioneer in the mobile wireless backhaul revolution, announced the launch of its EtherHaul™ solution, providing gigabit per second wireless connectivity at a total cost of ownership that is 80% lower than comparable solutions.  With the flexibility to integrate  with 2G, 3G and 4G Networks, and incorporating capabilities to support future topologies, EtherHaul enables service providers to meet today’s growing traffic demands and to evolve their network to meet future requirements.  In addition, Siklu’s environmentally friendly design results in easier and quicker deployment and adoption.

“Demand for wireless broadband service on cellular networks is expanding exponentially, driven by the growing presence of smartphones and other advanced mobile wireless devices,” said Jennifer Pigg, Vice President in Yankee Group’s Anywhere Network research group.  ”Today the backhaul represents the most significant bottleneck in the mobile network.   Millimeter-wave solutions can provide the needed capacity and also alleviate frequency congestion.  However, up until now the capital cost of current solutions has prohibited service providers from mass deployment.”  Siklu’s carrier grade and cost efficient millimeter-wave backhaul solution helps mobile carriers economically meet the ever growing demand for bandwidth.

Siklu’s EtherHaul solution leverages silicon-based technologies and millimeter-wave technology advantages to create a solution that is both uniquely cost effective and significantly enhances network performance. Tier one operators in Europe and Israel are currently running trials with EtherHaul.

“EtherHaul has redefined mobile backhaul by revolutionizing every aspect of system design resulting in lower equipment cost, installation time and fees, form factor, and ongoing maintenance and operations to achieve this dramatic reduction in the cost of ownership,” said Gaby Junowicz, VP of Marketing and Business Development at Siklu. “In addition to providing the lowest price point in the industry, EtherHaul supports today’s growing traffic demands along with the capabilities and flexibility to scale-up to meet the expanding bandwidth requirements that will result from the migration to next generation LTE and WiMAX networks and the introduction of new services.”

Siklu’s innovative solution has been selected to be a finalist at the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix Final, which is part of the prestigious Global Mobile Awards, held at the GSMA’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2010.

About Siklu

Siklu redefines wireless backhaul by optimizing every aspect of millimeter-wave system design to enable service providers to boost network capacity and performance, while dramatically reducing costs by 80%.  By re-engineering millimeter-wave system components, and leveraging silicon-based technologies, Siklu provides  gigabit per second wireless connectivity at the lowest price point in the industry.  Siklu’s solutions are easily scalable enabling service providers to evolve their networks from 2G/3G  to HSPA and 4G,  and incorporate capabilities to support future  topologies.  In addition, Siklu’s environmentally friendly design results in easier and quicker deployment and adoption.

Ukraine’s Kyivstar Selects Comverse HUB Mobile Advertising Platform To Deliver Promotions to Subscribers’ Handsets

Written by admin on February 12, 2010 – 4:38 am

Comverse has been selected by Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest mobile operator with over 22 million users, to deploy a multi-channel mobile advertising platform in its network, allowing Kyivstar to launch targeted promotional campaigns to its subscribers.

Kyivstar will use the Comverse HUB Mobile Advertising platform with advanced targeting and analytics capabilities to promote its own products and services to subscribers via multiple channels, such as text messaging (SMS) and replies generated by self-service options made possible by Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD). For instance, balance notifications generated by Kyivstar’s existing prepaid billing system from Comverse will include promotions of Kyivstar’s own products.

To constantly improve results, advanced metrics will make it possible for Kyivstar to precisely track and fine tune the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. In addition, because the billing system is always on and available, Kyivstar is assured that these results are accurate and not skewed by system downtimes.

“Mobile advertising gives us creative new ways to enrich the user experience and provide subscribers with information and promotions relevant to them,” said Vitaliy Vorozhbyt, products management and development director at Kyivstar.

“We selected Comverse for their mobile advertising expertise across all channels around the globe,” Vorozhbyt said, “as well as their ability to integrate it with their systems already here, such as our existing Comverse prepaid billing system. This is especially important because our promotions will depend heavily on reliable, real-time information.”

Mobile Advertising is part of Comverse HUB Value-Added Services, spanning voice, messaging, mobile Internet and mobile advertising. Comverse HUB is a synergistic framework that enables service providers to maximize their business performance and augment their position in the market.

“By joining a growing group of innovative operators using the Comverse HUB Mobile Advertising platform, Kyivstar positions itself to tap into the mobile phone’s potential as the ultimate marketing tool,” said Dror Bin, President of Global Sales at Comverse, the world’s leading supplier of software and systems enabling value-added messaging and content services, converged billing and active customer management, and IP communications.

“Comverse makes mobile advertising more relevant to the user with a one-on-one approach, multiple touchpoints, and unsurpassed targeting capabilities,” Bin said. “The fact that we were able to easily install another Comverse solution within Kyivstar’s existing offering also shows how well Comverse products work together.”

At the upcoming Mobile World Congress meeting (Feb. 15 to 18) in Barcelona, visitors are invited to Hall 8 Booth B83 to experience the Comverse HUB Mobile Advertising platform and a wide range of Comverse demos. To schedule a meeting with Comverse, visitors are encouraged to make an online request.

          associated with the selected category;

(d) attributing a priority to the distribution of the sponsored content
item of the first sponsor over the distribution of the sponsored

“We were the first company to recognize that information access and content consumption through mobile devices would one day eclipse all other devices, causing a major disruption throughout the entire advertising industry, including both traditional and digital media. Gartner Research predicts that mobile Web access will surpass traditional PC access by 2013,” said Jorey Ramer, Founder, Vice President of Corporate Development and a named inventor on the patent. “We invested heavily in developing technologies that best match advertisers to mobile consumers and deliver superior ROI to the various stakeholders throughout the mobile advertising ecosystem.”

The patent is one of four issued in less than eight months. Since June 16, 2009, Jumptap has been issued three other patents, Numbers 7548915, 7577665, and 7603360. The company currently has over 70 published patent applications and anticipates receiving additional patents over the coming quarters. Jumptap works with the GTC Law Group, Webb Law Firm, and Strategic Patents, P.C. in conjunction with its patent applications.

“Amidst major market consolidation, our rapidly expanding patent portfolio is producing a clear market differentiation for Jumptap,” continued Ramer. “Together with accelerating growth in our core business, our intellectual property is a significant contributor to enterprise value, as well as additional evidence of our achievements in building the long-term, sustainable assets required for a market-leading business.”
