O2 buys Jajah
Written by admin on December 25, 2009 – 6:45 am- Isaeli start-up Jajah, which allows users to make international phone calls via the Internet, will be sold to Telefonica’s (TEF.MC) mobile phone unit O2 this week, TheMarker financial news website said on Sunday.
- Comverse Technology is finalizing a settlement with investors who filed a class-action lawsuit against the software maker to recoup losses related to backdated stock options. The telecommunications software maker is expected to pay out between $150 million and $300 million.
- Online global traffic mapping start-up Waze Inc. has fired 15 of its 32 temporary employees. The laid-off employees were students who were mapping US roads for the company’s free navigation software.
- TuneWiki, an app that brings music streaming, a lyrics database and music videos from YouTube to one social, customizable media player (iTunes link) has been pretty popular on the iPhone. And now it’s just gone live on the Nokia Ovi store.

The reason being that it is responding to a prediction from Current Analysis that Android is “the fastest growing smartphone operating system in 2009.” - Mobile driving application Waze is adding a little extra inventive for users to help build out its crowdsourced maps. It already offers users points for “munching” up the road — i.e., driving around with Waze and validating the app’s directions. The latest version adds “road goodies,” special spots on the map that you get extra points for driving over.

jajah to be sold for $200-300 million?
Written by admin on November 14, 2009 – 4:55 am- Israeli start-up Jajah, which allows users to make phone-to-phone calls via the Internet, has received a buyout offer of $200-300 million, TheMarker financial news website said on Wednesday.
- Belgium-based MVNO, Cherry owned by Mondial Telecom is using Comverse’s solution to offer voice services to its subscribers over GSM as well as Wi-Fi.
- Waze, Inc., the first free provider of driver-generated maps and real-time road information, today announced the availability of its platform for community crowdsourcing of maps, worldwide
- RADCOM Ltd. (NASDAQ: RDCM) today announced that a major cellular operator in Central Asia has selected RADCOM’s Omni-Q system to monitor its GSM, GPRS and UMTS networks. The total expected deal value is over $1,000,000.
- Following the success of its first contest earlier this year, Mo’Minis today announced that the second mobile game creation contest in its GameCast series which is now open for registration.

Waze is now on the Appstore
Written by admin on August 9, 2009 – 2:53 am- Real-time crowd-sourcing navigation app Waze has cleared Apple’s App Store approval team and appeared for download, promising not only free turn-by-turn directions but peer-based traffic and road-condition updates
- Telefonica, Spain’s leading mobile operator, has selected Olista’s mobile user-experience platform to improve its customers’ experience when using Telefonica’s data services.
- Scailex Corp said on Thursday it had submitted a binding bid for Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd’s majority stake in Partner, Israel’s second-largest mobile phone operator.
- Israel’s Pelephone is planning a bid to buy fellow mobile phone operator MIRS, parent company Bezeq Israel Telecom said on Thursday.
- Pelephon has reportedly announced its financial reports for Q2′09. The mobile operator posted a 13.3% growth in its profits to NIS 1.35 billion in Q2, as compared to NIS 1.19 billion in Q2′08. Operating profit increased to NIS 321 million while net profit rose to NIS 233 million, up 29.4% in comparison to Q2′08.
